Microphones – IEPE Powered Transducer

The IEPE interface is defined in the IEEE 1451.4 standard and is also known a CCP (Constant Current Power) and ICP (a registered trademark of PCB Piezotronics).  IEPE powered transducers receive their power via the center conductor of a coaxial cable via a constant current power source.

IEPE powered transducers are particularly convienient when using National Instruments data acquisition systems, as all NI digital signal analyzers have IEPE power integrated into the device.

IEPE powered transducers also have the benefit of using a standard BNC connector type cable, which are readily available and much more economical than LEMO or other specialty connectors, while still being a high quality signal carrying cable form factor.
