Sound Power Level Determination System

Overview

The VIacoustics Sound Power Level Determination System is designed for full compliance with industry standards* for sound power level determination. Product test codes such as *ISO 7779 for information technology equipment, *IEC 60704 for noise emissions for appliances and many others can be implemented.

The Sound Power Level Determination System is a 10 channel system for simultaneous acquisition and signal processing using our Trident multi-channel measurement application. It utilizes the National Instruments PXI expansion chassis with three (3) each PXIe-4464 data acquisition devices and ten (10) each GRAS Sound and Vibration model 46AE microphone/preamps. A GRAS microphone calibrator with traceable calibration provided, as well as an Acculab Reference Sound Source with NVLAP accredited calibration data. Fully integrated systems include all cables, connectors, adapters, microphone fixtures and stands to make it a turnkey system.

*Industry standards for sound power level determination:

ISO 3744:2010 Acoustics — Determination of sound power levels and sound energy levels of noise sources using sound pressure — Engineering methods for an essentially free field over a reflecting plane

ISO 3745:2012 Acoustics — Determination of sound power levels and sound energy levels of noise sources using sound pressure — Precision methods for anechoic rooms and hemi-anechoic rooms
